Sketch Dump
Some sketches from the last few weeks, I'm loving speed sculpts at the moment, these were about 30-60 minutes. I'm hoping to keep these going as they're really fun!

Predator
A Predator piece I'm working on for a facebook contest! A long way to go but it's been super fun modelling such a classic design!

Bust Study!
I saw this bust of Benjamin Franklin a few days ago and it reminded me of a pencil study I did a long long time ago - when I was still in high school actually. At the time I probably didn't even know Zbrush existed. It was really interesting to go back and revisit the bust but in three dimensions this time!

Dishonored Fan Art Sketch
I picked up dishonored a few days ago, the art is stylised in a really distinctive yet brilliant way, definitely work checking out! Inspired, I roughed out a quick sketch of a character that could fit into the universe.

Face Sketches
Just some zbrush test heads from imagination, I churn out a tonne of these but decided to take these further and render them out, nothing fancy just some basic materials, think they turned out pretty cool :)

Irontown
Been up to some interesting stuff recently, I mentioned Irontown Interactive in my earlier post. Well since then I've finished the work for them. The project will officially be announced at the Welsh Games Decelopment Show on the 22nd June, if you're about check it out. Here's a little sneak preview of what I've been working on for it. I'm pretty happy with it, it's been a bit of a speed-sculpt exercise and the project has taken a little over a week in total, with some other stuff on the go at the same time. Although it's not perfect by any means it's been relieving to go from concept to completion in the space of a few days, towards the end of uni I definitely felt like I was flogging a dead horse on some of my projects and it's definitely refreshing to do something so quick. Some animation will be coming soon, which will be awesome for my portfolio, at the moment I pretty much have just static models.

Post-Uni Reflection
So it finally looks like University is finished (other than a brief end of year tutorial tomorrow). Even though I've technically been finished for a few weeks now I had a tonne of work to do recently but I think I can finally say I'm 100% finished.
So how come I was busy? well, I was lucky enough to be nominated for "Best CG Artist" at this years Glammies (the end of year show at my uni) and even luckier to win which was a massive honour. The level of talent displayed at the show was amazing and the first years did a really great job with their stings, all in all it was a really entertaining show, and really topped off an awesome three years.
I've uploaded the showreel that was shown at the show, but I'm quite keen to avoid calling it my "industry showreel" because there is certain stuff I want to take out, and certain stuff I want to keep before calling it my final showreel. Primarily I want to add some matchmoving stuff, but more on that later.
It's weird no longer being a student, but it's also really awesome having the opportunity to do some personal stuff while I'm looking for a job. It's always kinda hard to get back into more creative stuff after you've finished more technical orientated work, and it feels so nice to get back into Zbrush or Photoshop after weeks of shading, rendering and compiling work. I'm hoping to do some daily Zbrush sketches just to get back into the flow of things as well as updating this blog more regularly.
Over the next few weeks I'll also be helping a new local company called Irontown Interactive on something they're planning. It sounds like a pretty cool project and I'll be able to upload all the stuff do. It'll also be nice to have a solid deadline to keep me on my toes. As well as this I want to have a go at some matchmoving, it's something that I've been told big film studios are always on the lookout for - as most juniors will enter the studio as a matchmover and progress to their desired field from there. I've been looking at the transformer tutorial from Digital Tutors and I'm thinking of doing something similar, perhaps just a short clip of a mech walking down a live plate street. I bought a chrome ball for a probe and I'm really excited to have a chance to use it.
So to summarise, next few weeks should be pretty fun :)
