Welcome to Year 3!

Seems like forever since I updated my blog, in fact it's just been over the summer. I haven't got a lot to show from then but I've been doing plenty of work :) I did a little work on some stuff for GamesLabWales it's under NDA so there isn't anything I can show, but hopefully I'll be able to show that stuff off at some point. It's all super low poly modelling for technical reasons, mostly relying on textures. It's really testing having to fit a lot of detail into something which is only a handful of polys. The GamesLab stuff petered out a little bit but I should hopefully be picking it up again soon.

I'm optimistic about this year and I'm already involved in some pretty cool projects. At the moment I'm working on the environment project in Maya. So far it's going pretty well, and I've only had a few frustrating incidents. The interface feels great to navigate, particularly with a tablet, but there are quite a few features that feel strange or even poorly implemented compared to 3dsMax. In general though poly modelling is poly modelling regardless of the package.

I'll update when more is available but so far I've just finished a piece of the roofing, it's mostly modular so hopefully the rest will go fairly quickly, I'll also post some steps, and maybe even a video tutorial or something explaining the workflow. It's all rendered realtime.
