Baby steps in Zbrush...

So here are some early WIP shots of Shinibou's face from Zbrush. These are just screen grabs from Zbrush so hopefully it'll look better in a proper render. This is just really a first pass on the wrinkles, there should be pores and high detail to come, once its all comped into a decent displacement/normal map setup I'm hoping it will look great. Although it doesn't look like a lot this is basically the result of a lot of work and frustration over the last few days, teaching yourself a whole new program is by no means an easy task, especially with deadlines looming. Nevertheless I'm quite happy with what's pretty much a first attempt in Zbrush, just one baby step at a time.

Also I have set up the facial rig controls, I'm choosing to have a morph based system. Basically because I'd prefer to sculpt expressions that to envelope them. I was looking into actually combining a bone and morph rig, but I think I won't have time for it and he will have a limited number of expressions anyway, mostly snarls.. But there are still a lot of morphs there as you can see.

Finally, Kyle has done some amazing animation tests for the helmet and sword rig, I was completely blown away by these, they were exactly what I had imagined, check these out here.
