Above is a sample of some of the props I made for the game Much Haste to Igford. I was actually given the opportunity to work on a character for the game, "The Major" pictured below.
Originally I approached this as a fairly quick project, I didn't think that the character would take 4 weeks due to his relatively simple and toony nature. Deceptively though, lower poly characters can sometimes require more work than their high poly cousins. Whilst the sculpt was a relatively simple procedure, keeping the polycount restrained whilst retaining as much character and detail as possible was a massive challenge. To add to this the character would be placed alongside work from the awesome Jamie Lee Lloyd, a former graduate who has worked on triple A titles. You can see his fantastic sculpt of Hyacinth on his blog so the pressure was really on to create something wouldn't look ridiculous in comparison. Luckily I was put in touch with Jamie and managed to get some really great info on his workflow which helped massively.
Although I'm allowed to post work for self-promotional purposes, the character is actually for a game currently in production. For this reason I have to be sensitive with regards to what I post so unfortunately this is all I'm posting for now (breakdowns will be in my showreel when it is completed.)
